7 Days on The Cabbage soup diet plan

11:37 PM Posted by Ahmed Abdelgaid No comments

Diet Plans Fad Diets
One can endure just about anything for a week to quickly lose ten pounds, and the rapid results of this diet are what hold its allure. The Seven Day Cabbage Soup diet plan allows for only two fat free bowls of cabbage soup per day with alternating additional menu options for each day of the week. It is also recommended that dieters refrain from alcohol consumption and they drink plenty of water or low calorie fluids including unsweetened tea. Dieters should only stay on this diet for one week and they should wait a period of time before going back on this diet. The recommended short duration of this diet is a clue that it is NOT a healthy diet choice.

The cabbage soup recipe is pretty basic, although it is difficult to imagine how one could spice up a fat free cabbage soup to make it tolerable for seven days straight. The fat free or lowfat versions of the cabbage soup typically include cabbage, celery, onions and tomatoes, and the soup is flavored with onion soup mix, bouillon cubes, and tomato juice. The cabbage soup diet is bland, high in salt, and causes gas and it is not particularly nutritious. The premise of this diet is to follow a very specific guideline of what one can eat for seven days:

Daily consumption Guide

Day one consists of cabbage soup and fruit only, excluding bananas
Day two more soup and some veggies and a potato with butter for dinner
Day three more cabbage soup and veggies and fruit
day four brings more soup and up to 6 bananas and fat free milk
Day five and more soup awaits and up to 6 tomatoes and 450 grams of meat of fish
Day six cabbage soup and meat and vegetables
Day seven of this diet allows yet more cabbage soup and brown rice and juice and veggies.

The Cabbage Soup diet is a seven day diet plan for rapid weight loss and an extreme test of willpower by basically consuming little more than cabbage soup for an entire week. Although this diet is not a long-term weight solution, it encourages people to eat more vegetables that prevent cancer such as cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower. Sound good to you? If the idea is to create an aversion for food to drive the people to starve themselves, then this diet serves its purpose. Cabbage is arguably the most boring food to eat so it must be extremely monotonous to eat cabbage soup for an entire week. However, there is an interesting psychological game going on here. Eating one of the most boring foods on the planet for a week sure would help one reassess their relationship with food. We all have a tendency to overeat on occasion when food tastes really good so maybe if we could train ourselves to treat all foods like cabbage soup we would only eat until the point of being full. Yet this is probably just reaching as this diet is a little short of torture and many would prefer to starve, but if you’re a big fan of cabbage and broccoli, this is the diet for you.

Guess the Best Anti-aging Vitamin

10:17 PM Posted by Ahmed Abdelgaid No comments
Some time ago I decided that I should begin taking food supplements. I had arrived at the age when most people began to try to take better care of bodies which were growing older. I began to study food supplements in search of the best anti-aging vitamin, and I chose Vitamin K. Here are my reasons for choosing Vitamin K as the best anti-aging vitamin for myself.

I knew that Vitamins A, B6, B12, C, D, and E were already well supplied to me in my regular diet, plus the simple multi-vitamin supplement that we used every day anyway. But the amounts of Vitamin K contained in the supplement seemed very, very small, so I began to read about Vitamin K.
First of all, Vitamin K is commonly referred to as the “coagulator” because for years it has been assumed that Vitamin K was the best anti-aging vitamin for elderly people with blood problems or who suffered from some form of anemia. Indeed the “K” in Vitamin K comes from the German word for coagulation

Next I learned that Vitamin K is the best anti-aging vitamin for people with inflammatory illnesses, including illnesses of the joints and cartilage formations within the body. I was surprised to learn that Vitamin K also aids in the formation of bone and plays a major role in the general maintenance of bone structure. As such, Vitamin K is important in prevention of osteoporosis in older people as well as playing a major role in cell proliferation and in maintaining health in developing and aging nervous systems

It was puzzling to me that a Vitamin with so many different and important roles to play was not a major component in the best anti-aging vitamin supplements. The reason for this was also surprising as I learned that deficiency in this seeming best anti-aging vitamin supplement was relatively rare in otherwise healthy adults. In addition being consumed with leafy vegetables as well as many green vegetables which are part of most normal healthy diets, Vitamin K is produced by bacteria which live normally in the large intestine. Additionally, Vitamin K is a fat soluble vitamin and the normal vitamin cycle preserves its presence in the body

Of all the greatest health dangers facing an aging population the greatest seems to be the potential for
loss of mobility. Once mobility is lost much of the general quality of life is lost as well. Osteoporotic fractures can cripple an elderly person making him or her bedridden for life. Accordingly, I believe that the best anti-aging vitamin is the one that makes the greatest impact on bone development and provides the greatest role of defense against Osteoporosis of all the major vitamins. In addition, very small amounts are really necessary to augment the normal sourcing of Vitamin K through regular diet. Thus Vitamin K provides more with less and gets my vote as the best anti-aging vitamin.

Mind Over Belly Weight Loss Brain Training

9:36 PM Posted by Ahmed Abdelgaid No comments

Ever wondered how you could use your brain power to help you in the fight against fat? This article will show you the exact steps to help train your brain to lose weight.

Firstly, write down how much weight you want to lose, a weight loss goal. eg. “I want to lose 200 lbs”. Research has shown that people who actually write down their goals have an improved chance of achieving them.

Put your goal somewhere visible to your everyday – the home screen of your cell phone perhaps. The brain is the most powerful and complex machine known to man (not really a machine but you get the idea) – it will try to work out a way to achieve this goal subconsciously. Ever see that Simpsons episode where Homer repeatedly hears a voice saying “Dental plan!”, “Lisa needs braces” – it’s something like that. The little voice in your head will be looping through this without you knowing it, finding a way to achieve your goal.

The most important part! Write down what will happen if you don’t achieve this goal, something quite extreme, something that you’re genuinely afraid of. eg. “I won’t ever find a boyfriend because I’m too fat”. Fear is a driving emotion for everyone, and it is amazing what people will do out of fear.

Put this alongside your weight loss goal and 2 things will happen. Your brain will not only find a way to achieve your goal but will also relate not achieving that goal to what you've written down beside it. Your brain will try its hardest to avoid pain driving your motivation to lose weight even further.

Using fear to drive you to achieve your goal is one of the most powerful things known to man. This technique in conjunction with a healthy dieting plan will surely help you in the fight against fat!

Protein Diet Plan

7:23 PM Posted by Ahmed Abdelgaid No comments

When we think of a Protein Diet Plan, we normally think of athletes and body builders, people trying to build up their muscles.  However more and more non-athletic people are finding that a high protein diet is also a good way to lose weight, and still eat the foods they really enjoy, mainly meat.  By limiting the amount of carbohydrates, losing weight on a high protein diet is fairly painless.  Painless in the short term but perhaps not in the long term.

Have Things Gone Far Enough? photo by Michelle Meiklejohn
An article by Mayo Clinic Nutritionist K. Zeratsky,R.D.,L.D. states, “For most healthy people, a high-protein diet generally isn't harmful if followed for a short time, such as three to four months, and may help with weight loss. However, the risks of using a high-protein diet — usually with carbohydrate restriction — for the long term are still being studied. Several health problems may result if a high-protein diet is followed for an extended time.”

If Carbohydrate intake is cut back too much, nutritional deficiencies will develop and health problems occur.  Constipation, diverticulitis and even an increased risk of cancer.  Another thing to consider, if red meat and full-fat milk are consumed for extended periods, the risk of Heart Disease increases.  Problems with your liver and kidney’s may also develop if your body has trouble eliminating protein metabolism wastes.

Perhaps as a weight loss aid for a short time, a high protein diet isn’t bad, provided your choices of protein aren't just hamburgers.  Include chicken(skinless), lean beef, fish, pork and low-fat dairy products.  Make sure to eat vegetables for their fiber and also fruit, along with whole grain bread.  When you've reached your goal, cut back on the meats and increase the vegetables and fruits.  By eating non-processed fresh food and exercising, you’re weight will stay off without you even thinking about it.

Remember if you have kidney trouble, liver disease or diabetes, are taking medications, or pregnant, or breast feeding, ask your doctor what he thinks of high protein diets, I bet he’s not in favor of them.  Be careful!

10 Ways to Eat Healthy on a Budget

7:53 AM Posted by Ahmed Abdelgaid No comments
A lot of us think that eating healthy has to be expensive. We think we can’t possibly feed a family of 4 on a budget if we eat healthy. Feeding a family a meat, veggie, and s

ide dish isn't as cheap as feeding them a box or two of Macaroni and Cheese. That’s true, but shopping for healthy food doesn't have to be elaborate or expensive. There are ways to eat healthy and save money.  Most stores have sales every week, and they usually start on

Sunday. Check all the sales papers. Most stores have their sales ads online now. When you see something that is on sale that you need, write it down with the price and what store it was on sale at. From this list of sale items, make out your healthy menu for the w

eek. For example: Maybe this week at one store, a three-pound bag of apples is on sale. So that will be the family’s fruit serving for a few days. Maybe another store has chicken breasts on sale. So now you know that you will fix three meals using chicken this week. Do the same for each food group, and you will have a whole week’s worth of food that you got on sale. Most fruits and veggies will last a week, so just make your menu match the sales.  Specialty markets are usually a good place to start. They usually have great prices already and then they still have sales and “shop in bulk” prices. You can find meat markets that sell meats for a lot cheaper than even on sale somewhere else. The market will sometimes give you more off per pound if you buy in bulk. Take it home, re-bag, and freeze. There are also fruit/veggie markets available all year long. These places also usually have the best prices. Then there are stores like Sam’s Club (which you have to join) or Aldi’s and Sav-a-Lot stores that are cheaper for everything. Many people think that these places only sell odd brand things, but most have now gone to main brand items, and most of their non-brand items are just as good.

Shop more than one store

When you look through the sales papers and write down what store has what items on sale, you will find that you might have to stop at several different stores. Write down what you need and map our your route through the store to get these items. This makes the trip a lot faster. For some people it’s easier to take a day and stop at all the different stores. For others, it’s easier to stop at one store a day and get the few things on sale. Many stores will price match items from other stores. Wal-Mart is one of them. If you find an item on sale at another store, you can get that item at Wal-Mart for the other store’s sales price. Cooking food homemade is the best way to get the healthiest, cheapest food you can. When you cook food at home, you know what goes in it. You can control everything, including the price. Once you pick up staples like tomatoes, chicken, seasoning, you can make nearly anything from what you have.

Stock up

When you find a good sale, or a marked down price on something, stock up. If you use a coupon with a sale’s price, you get one of the lowest prices you can get. Stock up on those items. You don’t have to be an extreme shopper, but if you can, why not? Non- perishables like beans and brown rice, and items you can freeze, buy in bulk.

Dollar store

There are some dollar stores that sell everything from shampoo to food items. Canned veggies like tomatoes, rice, pasta, cereal, all kinds of things that you need, they have for a dollar. These items are also good to stock up on. I usually make a monthly trip to mine and stock up on the things I’m low on. Remember, if you can save on things like shampoo, shower gels, medicines, cleaning products, and such, you will have more money for healthy shopping.

Marked down stuff

When I go into some stores, they have items marked down that are not bad yet, but they need to be bought soon. These items can most often go into the freezer. My grocery stores will mark down meats that are still good. They need to either be eaten or frozen soon. Also, the produce department usually marks items down. You don’t have to use them all right away. Most can be diced up and frozen.

Coupons

There are coupons for healthy foods, too. They aren't as easy to find but they are out there. Many stores have their own coupons for these items. When you find them, try to match them with a sale for that item, and get the best bargain you can. If you can get coupons on things like rice, beans, canned goods, then that helps save so you can buy your other food.

Don’t Waste

Wasting food is just a waste of money. We all do it. The commercial where the lady says, “Don’t bother to wrap it. I will just throw it out anyway,” came from a real place. We have all been there. Try not to waste food. Make sure to take a quick inventory of all your items every day or every other day. Figure out what foods like veggies need to be eaten first and do that. Make something good out of them. For instance, I usually go through my refrigerator every other day and find out what I need to use up. I can take all of the available items and make soups, stews, casseroles, or things like that out of them. Then I can either have that for dinner that night, or put these items in containers and freeze them for another night

Make your own breads

It might seem like a daunting task to bake your own bread but it really doesn't take up much of your time at all. When you bake your own breads, you have the chance to put in things like whole grains and brand flours to make them healthy and tasty. Most of the time spent on baking breads is in waiting for the rising. During this time you can be doing other things. You will only spend a few actual minutes on kneading. It is a great way to get the best bread for the cheapest price. The items you need are usually very inexpensive, and most people have them in their cupboard all the time anyway

Conclusion

Even though eating healthy can sometimes be very expensive, there are ways of getting around that. Make sure to take any deal you can. Use coupons. Make out your menu and shopping list based on what stores have on sale. Don’t waste food. These are all ways that you can save money and still eat healthy.

Essential Diabetes Health Care Products Part 2

4:59 AM Posted by Ahmed Abdelgaid No comments
Welcome to the second part in our series where we clear away the confusion about what diabetes health care products are most important to actually controlling your diabetes and staying healthy. In the first part of our series, we started by pointing out that you absolutely had to have a blood glucose monitor for proper feedback, and fitness equipment to help keep you in shape and burn up that extra sugar in your blood. In part 2, we will continue by pointing out a few nutritional products that are important to maintaining diabetic health.

Calorie Counter

A calorie counter or calorie log is important for a diabetic for quite a few reasons. The first is that you need to know how many calories you are eating each day, because weight loss is one of the best ways to treat diabetes. Second, you want to know what the macronutrient breakdown of your food is. Sugars and refined carbohydrates need to be strictly avoided because they are the primary cause of blood sugar spikes and high blood sugar levels.

Fiber Supplements

Registered dieticians and doctors agree that while people need plenty of fiber in their diets, diabetics need even more. They also agree that most people consume far less fiber than they should each day. Many people have difficulty working fiber into their diet, and fiber supplements are a good way of picking up the slack.
Fiber is an important diabetes health care product because when there is plenty of fiber in the diet, it slows the absorption of glucose into the bloodstream, which helps to balance blood sugar levels and avoid nasty blood sugar spikes. Fiber also swells in the stomach, which helps you feel fuller longer without having to consume as much food. This has the added effect of helping you to lose weight.
Fiber supplements for diabetics come in many forms, but there are a few considerations that you will want to take into account. The first is that you want to avoid anything that is flavored or chewable. These products usually contain additives and sweeteners that you want to avoid. Second, you want something that can be easily mixed into water or other foods, as this makes it much easier to take them regularly

Kitchen

Okay, this is one that you already have, but it is included here in order to make a point. Part of the reason that diabetes is rising in prevalence more and more every year is that we are eating out too much and depending on too many processed foods. The same is true when it comes to the rising levels of obesity in the world. Surprisingly, one of the best solutions to both of these problems is to start cooking for yourself.
When you start cooking for yourself, you know what exactly is going into your food, so you know what exactly you are eating. This is important to diabetes health care because aside from exercise, the most important factor when it comes to keeping your type 2 diabetes under control and keeping your blood sugar levels even is to control what you eat. While the full breakdown of a healthy diabetic diet is far too extensive to include here, a basic outline is to say that your diet should be primarily lean meats and high-fiber vegetables.

There are so many diabetes health care products out there that it can seem impossible at times to know what exactly you need and what you can leave behind. Since diet is one of the most important factors when it comes to keeping diabetes under control, it is very important that you know how many calories you are consuming, where they come from, and that they are from natural sources. Supplementing your diet with fiber is also an important part of balancing high blood sugar levels and staying healthy well into the future.
